Please note this course runs from Friday evening to Sunday at 4 pm. You should have passed, at the very least, a Silver NNAS award and be extremely competent in Bronze and Silver level skills.
The course fee covers this training weekend only – assessment is run at a later date when you are happy that you have practised the gold skills to your satisfaction. A separate fee will be charged for assessment.
The culmination of your map and compass training, this Gold NNAS Level weekend, will give you further training opportunities to take your navigation skills to another level. The course is run with a minimum of two on a course and a maximum tutor/trainee ratio of 1:4.
Saturday and Sunday
Two practical days on the Peak District moors using skills learnt previously but also developing a contour-based navigation. Macro and micro navigation techniques will be employed to navigate around a challenging course.
Route planning for Sunday. As a group, you’ll be planning a route on challenging terrain which you’ll follow tomorrow.
How effective was your route? How effective was your gold navigation techniques around it? What do you need to work on before your assessment?
